Flaremode's Exclusive Mix

Today we’re excited to be joined by rising Italian stars Flaremode. 2017 was a big year for the duo, who scored themselves support from some the biggest names in the scene. From Nicky Romero premiering stunning floor-filler “Best Of Life,” to Timmy Trumpet rocking the Tomorrowland Mainstage with “Drill Machine,” Flaremode’s unique sound (which brings in elements from big room and psy trance) has landed right in the hotbed of dance music. With a promising year ahead including a massively growing Asian presence, Jonny and Francesco delivered their Exclusive Mix.
How did you approach your Exclusive Mix and how does the track selection compare to a current DJ set of yours?
This is an interesting question. During our live sets we like to play hard! Sometimes we play more than 160 songs in an hour switching between many genres! We edit almost every song in the studio before playing it live! Our approach for the Exclusive Mix is totally different, we wanted to play the music that we really are enjoying at that moment and at the same time wanted to try and support all of the artists that we like – we don’t care about the trends!

Can you highlight three tracks included in the Mix and why they stand out to you?
Sure! The first one is “What I Do” by Will Sparks. It’s just magic, we cannot define a specific genre for it! It’s a perfect combination between techno, trance and progressive house!

The second one is “Melody” by Mike Williams! We are thrilled by the vocals, and the lyrics are really deep and meaningful! At the same time the drop is powerful and it works really well in the clubs!
The last one is “Only For Your Love,” remixed by Corey James and Camarda! It’s a masterpiece. There are many progressive house lovers out there who wish to see more releases like this one in the future!
You guys have some really exciting opportunities starting in Asia very soon including a residency on Billboard Radio China and a big Asia tour in March. Can you take us back a bit first, sharing your history with touring in Asia and what you like about playing there? What do these new opportunities mean to you?
We’ve toured almost everywhere in Asia and we still love it. We started working there more than three years ago now and we cannot be more happy to have gotten that start when we did. Through Asia and in all of these countries people really love electronic music and they really enjoy dancing to it. There’s a great energy in the clubs!

During our next tour we’ll be playing in Thailand, China, Japan,Taiwan, the Philippines and South Korea. At the same time we’ll start our Residency on DJ Mag Asian Session which will be streamed in FM via Billboard Radio! We’ll mix the show together with the talented Singaporean DJ Jade Rasif. During the radio show you can expect new music from us plus we’ll feature some exclusive mixes from DJs like David Guetta, The Chainsmokers, Alan Walker, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and many more.
We definitely feel that psy trance made a bigger push into mainstream electronic music last year. How di you guys view that movement, and how, if at all, does it affect your production approach?
We are really happy about about the rise of the psy trance movement and we really admire Vini Vici, they are doing a great job. It was with this surge in mind that we produced our song “House Of Psy.” Something exactly between psy trance and big room house!
What can you share with us about some of your upcoming releases this year?
We are working right now on many collaboration tracks with our friends Mad M.A.C, D’Angello & Francis and the guys from Eclypse Records!
Was there ever a show that you attended as a fan where afterwards you knew you wanted to pursue music as a DJ/producer for a career?
Tomorrowland! It changed our lives, it’s something insane and we think that everyone should go there once in their life!
