W&W Drop Inside Scoop On New Music & Club Mythic 002

Every year in July, you can count on W&W to deliver a massive ID filled and super fresh set on the Tomorrowland Mainstage. This year, without the festival, they’ve turned that same energy and attention into their second show for Club Mythic. We caught up with the guys to highlight the biggest tracks in the set, all of the Rave Culture happenings, and some big life updates!
Willem, Ward, we’re stoked to be celebrating the second edition of Club Mythic together! Normally around this time, you’d be preparing the IDs and exclusive edits for a big festival set like Tomorrowland. How did the preparation for this set compare and contrast to Tomorrowland prep in years past?
Well when you prepare a set for Tomorrowland, you really have to take crowd response into consideration, whereas when you prepare a livestream you’re a bit more free from that. So we can test out music that we like, but that we wouldn’t be sure of to play for a crowd. We actually have a couple of songs like that and we can’t wait to see the reactions online!
“Greece 2021,” the Sandro Silva ID, and the “This Is Our Legacy” ID have all been massive intro tracks in your past live sets during the pandemic. What can you tell us about your intro for this Club Mythic show? What makes a good intro to you guys?
We have a completely new intro for Rave Culture Live 002! A good intro builds up tension, sounds epic and has a good amount of energy to set the tone of the set without spoiling too much. We think that the new intro is a very unexpected intro, and we’re curious as to what people will think of that haha!
We’ve started to see live shows come back in certain places around the world, especially in the US. Has seeing those return impacted your work in the studio recently? Do you think it influenced the music selection for this set?
The USA is going full steam right now, great to see all of the videos from full clubs and festivals! House is massive right now, especially in the USA and we do get inspired by those sounds, but we’re not going to copy it. What we always try to do when something is inspiring is to implement certain elements from it, but stick to our own sounds.
Aside from your intro, what are two other tracks included in the set that stand out to you, and why?
There’s going to be one song influenced by the current sound that is popular, but then done in our way that we’re really excited about, and then also a new song with a singer we worked with before ;)
Your Rave Culture merch always has a big presence in your live shows and social media posts. What can you tell us about the new merch that you rocked for this set?
We’re both going to be wearing new shirts that we’re really excited about! We actually just released the Rave Is Not A Crime black edition too!
Looking closer at your collab with Martin Jensen, “Greece 2021,” when did you first get the idea to do the rework of Three Drives - “Greece 2000,” and how do you feel that you made the track your own?
“Greece 2000” has always been one of our favourite trance classics. This winter we were working on a lot of music, heard that track somewhere and thought, why not use that melody in a more modern way?! Started working on it, Linnea absolutely killed it on the vocals and finished it back and forth with Martin Jensen!
NWYR has a very exciting date coming up at ASOT1000 in September! Any scoop on some of the new NWYR music that we may be hearing?
The entire month of August is dedicated to making new NWYR music! We have a few new things but the majority of that will be made in the next month!

You guys recently bought your first house and finished your new studio, huge congrats! What can you tell us about the spaces and excitement for the future ahead?
Thanks a lot! The house is absolutely stunning, has everything we need and is super close to the airport – so convenient for future travels! The new studio is very spacious and modern and the sound is fantastic! Very happy with the result so a big thanks to the guys from Vicoustic who fixed it!
And as we head deeper into the summer, what’s keeping you excited and motivated on a daily basis?
We have our eyes on the European shows that we have coming up at the end of August and beginning of September! It’s been since December (Rave Culture Festival in Thailand) that we played for a live crowd so we’re super eager and can’t wait to test all of the new music!
