In general Swanky Tunes’ sound could be described as house, but at the same time you can hear influences of electro, techno, progressive or even trance music. During performances we aren’t limited to house music. We also bring some trap, hip hop, and rock to our sets.
Who were your early influences? Who are you influenced by currently?
It’s a good question for those who want to get closer to Swanky’s sound. In the mid of 90s, bands and producers such as The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, and Groove Armada gave us a lot of ideas and inspiration. Nowadays we’d add to this list Mura Masa, Miike Snow, and Justice.
Did any of you once attend a show as a fan where afterwards, you knew you wanted to do this for a living?
Honestly the show hasn't happened yet. But we wish to attend The Chemical Brothers live show some day.
Our goal is just to bring good music to listeners. And when a mix is called exclusive, it means people expect to hear some exclusive material in it. This mix contains a few tracks unveiled by Swanky Tunes, Showland Records upcoming releases, and a new remix on our single Entertain Us.
How do some of the songs in the mix represent your musical influences?
Let’s say this is a slice of Swanky Tunes’ current taste. Our taste is always changing and this mix is a good chance hear how it sounds now.
Can you talk about the similarities/differences between this mix and when you DJ?
In both mixes and sets we want people to wonder at and dance to our selection of tracks. The mixing techniques differ a bit. Performing live sets we use more loops, acapellas, and FX. For studio mixes we prefer a simple mixing style, providing tracks in their more original form.
Are any of these tracks big hits in your live sets?
Sure, our collaboration with Far East Movement, Entertain Us, and another one with Yves V, Out Of Gravity, are always played in our sets and bring a lot of hype to a dancefloor. In terms of different type of music we’d add to our sets tracks like Need You by Dillon Francis & NGHTMRE. We love this slow-tempo vibe with a powerful electro sound.
Can you highlight some of the artists/tracks in the mix and what makes them stand out? Any particular story why any of the tracks made it in?
Yes, one of these tracks is our brand new single Drownin' produced with talented Russian duo Going Deeper and another one is a remix on the latest release by Armin van Buuren - Heading Up High.
Drownin’ was recorded as a follow up to our previous work with Going Deeper, Far From Home, which got over 7 million streams on Spotify. Hopefully this new track will replicate Far From Home’s success. For the remix of Heading Up High, we’ve never worked with Armin van Buuren before, and it’s an honour for us to remix one of his tracks.
It’s exciting! We know people expect to hear something outstanding in this mix. So we are in charge of making it happen and have no right to disappoint them.
Honestly not too much. We still love music and want to share this love with our fans!
This is it :) Now it's time to listen to our Exclusive Mix. Have a good time guys!
