Myon Presents Ride Radio
Myon just launched his brand new radio show, Ride Radio, and episode 1 featured Armin van Buuren on guest mix duties. We sat down with him for a brief look into the thought process behind his new radio show, his recent release on Anjunabeats, “Omen In The Rain” (feat. Alissa Feudo), and much more that he has been up to and has in his big 2017 plans.
Can you talk to us a little about the structure and logistics Ride Radio?
Ride Radio is my brand new 2-hour long weekly radio show mixed and hosted by myself. I’ll be showcasing my favorite tracks at the moment and the show will give me an opportunity to feature up and coming artists, but also guest mixes from some of the world’s biggest DJs. We just had our first episode this week!
It will be broadcast live on YouTube and Facebook on Tuesdays, 8-10PM CET, and every episode will be available on the website – rideradio.fm – as well as iTunes, Spotify, etc. If you go to the website now you can listen back to my guestmix for ABGT 221 [tracklist] as well as the first episode of Ride Radio.
We’re also working on an app for iOS and Android that will be available very soon!
What a first guest mix from Armin van Buuren!! How did that come about?
Yes, quite huge! When I was working on the post-production of the show (for example, the videos, etc.) – I wanted to have someone truly special to help me kick things off. The first person I reached out to was Armin who was happy to support the launch of my new show. He also tweeted about it. I owe you big time, dude!
The response to “Omen In The Rain” has been quite staggering – why do you think this track is special?
I’m very proud of the production. Both because of the live recorded strings and since it is my solo return to Anjunabeats after nearly 8 years. I actually found Alissa Feudo (the vocalist) on an Instagram page – and the second I heard her voice I knew that I had to work with her. Her voice is absolutely perfect for this song and to watch it go down personally during ABGT 200 was pretty special! Seems like the fans are enjoying it as well!
We loved the new remix for Late Night Alumni and Kaskade that you just debuted during your Group Therapy guest mix [tracklist]. We hear that will be released on your label, Ride Recordings.
This release is a big moment in the label’s five year history.
I’m very close friends with the Late Night Alumni guys, and when I was recording the strings for “Omen In The Rain” with John Hancock (of LNA) he showed me some of their new material. We had this idea to have Ride license some of the Late Night Alumni songs and bring a trancey spin to their releases. The first result is my remix for “Love Song,” but we plan on doing many more!
Seems like Kaskade loves it too because he’s just started dropping it in his sets…awesome to see those vids!
What can we expect from you in 2017? Are you hitting the road again?
Right now, I’m holed up in my Hungarian studio working on a bunch of new music. Jenn Blosil is actually coming to visit so we can finish our follow-up to “We Are The Ones,” and then we’ll be shooting a music video together. Also, if all goes according to plan we might see a 2017 update of my first solo single from 10 years ago, “Albion”!
In terms of touring, I can’t wait to get back out playing again. I’m just waiting on my work visa, and once that is in place I plan on touring around the US. I’m sitting on tons of new music and can’t wait to share it with all of my fans live!
Finally, this is going to be a big year for my label Ride Recordings. Following on from the Late Night Alumni & Kaskade remix, we have tons of other huge plans in the works and are really working on focusing on building ‘Ride’ as a greater whole – which includes the new radio show. 2017 is going to be a super exciting year for sure!
