Oliver Heldens Kickstarts 2017
Oliver Heldens kicked off his 2017 with the release of “I Don’t Wanna Go Home” on his own label Heldeep Records. The high energy house track is sure to get you moving and Oliver joined us to discuss how the track came together and represents the disco influences he wants to shine through in his music.
What a great track Oli! Can you talk about your initial inspiration and first sketch of “I Don’t Wanna Go Home”?
I just really wanted to make a fun track with some summer vibes. It's cold outside so I wanted to get people on their feet and busting some moves!
It looks like you premiered the track in your set at Tomorrowland on the My House Stage? What was that like?
Tomorrowland is amazing in the first place, but the My House Stage was even better. I couldn’t think of a better place to premiere it.
Has the track changed at all since then compared to the final product that we hear today?
There’ve been some adjustments and tweaks here and there, but no major changes in the final product!
How have you been using the track in your sets since then and what’s the reception been like?
The crowd’s reaction didn’t change after the small adjustments, the amount of energy was still the same! I love how this track already has so much support from different sides.
We love the disco vibes in “I Don’t Wanna Go Home.” Can you talk a little about showcasing that side of your productions and your disco influences?
I love to put the disco vibe into my tracks. I used to listen to old disco records with my father, he had a lot of them. I think this was the beginning of me liking disco!
This track kicks off the year in a big way for Heldeep Records. What can we expect from the label this year?
Expect a lot of Oliver Heldens and HI-LO releases, but also releases by upcoming artists!
And finally what do you have planned over the next few months in the run up to Miami?
A lot of preparations take place before Miami, so I'm quite busy with that! Loving Miami and I've been working very hard for this year so expect some great things.
