Corey James Exclusive Mix
Earlier in March we caught up with UK producer Corey James to discuss his rising stock and productions prior to the release of his wildly successful collab with Teamworx, “Make The Crowd Go.” Corey’s been busy in the studio and is back with us to celebrate, bringing us our latest Exclusive Mix and talking some of his recent and upcoming productions. Get ready for an groovy hour jam packed with his productions and IDs!
My Production Sound
The thing with my sound is it’s not about trying to fit in. I think it’s more a case of me making what I like. Obviously I like all the heavier stuff, progressive and the groove, but at the same time I really love tech house, techno, and just real house music. I’ve made a lot of tech and sent it to some people who think I should create an alias to release it. I don’t think that’s needed necessarily. I’m just going to keep making music I like, whether it’s tech, progressive, whatever.
Corey James - “Ti Enko”
Well I don’t know if I’m allowed to say the official release date, but it’s really soon. It was crazy to have the track premiered on Kryteria Radio. Kryder has always been a big role model to my sound and my music. I see Kryder has been playing it a lot lately and I think it’s been in the last two or three episodes of Kryteria in a row, which is crazy.
Corey James - “Rule The Nation”
“Rule The Nation” is a bit of a weird one, to be honest. I was in the studio trying to create more of a festival sounding track, one that could be played in clubs and also on a mainstage, and next thing I know the track was basically there within a day or two. I spent maybe a few days tweaking it, but it was a really fast process with that track. I tested it for the first time at a student night in Liverpool called Medication. I was quite happy with the way it sounded in the club so I didn’t need to make many tweaks.
At the moment I’m still going back and forth with Teamworx on our follow up track to “Make The Crowd Go.” We are trying to switch things up a bit and be creative with the drop, but we will see what happens and where it goes.
I started a collab with the Futuristic Polar Bears about three weeks ago. Obviously I’ve been away on holiday so I haven’t much of a chance to be in the studio. It’s pretty close to being done and we are really happy with what we’ve got at the moment. It’s going to be a really good track. It’s literally a fuse of both of our styles. It could be big room and could be groovy with the drums. It’s got a lot of drums and percussion. I think that’s the whole point of a collab - you’ve got to find the perfect match. And with this one, we’ve nailed it 50-50. I’m really excited about it!
I’m playing quite a few shows this summer as well and I’m excited. I’m playing Barcelona in July. I’m playing Creamfields in August - that’s literally one of my life goals. It’s about a 20 minute drive from my house so it’s pretty special to me. I’m just excited to play it, it means a lot.
Corey James’ latest track entitled "Rule The Nation" is out now via Swanky Tunes’ Showland Records imprint in-collaboration with Armada Music.
