Get To Know: Willy Van Florence

We're joined by Willy Van Florence, an up and coming Italian producer who's just released his latest track on 2Dutch titled "Muchacho." Willy takes us through the track and also goes in depth on his background as an artist in our interview!
Hey Willy, thanks for joining us today! How is your year going so far and what have been some of your best moments in 2022?
Hi, thank you for inviting me. This year is going very well, full of opportunities that I never expected. There were so many beautiful moments, but one in particular was when I played in one of the biggest clubs in Italy. I saw guys dancing to the music I produced and seeing how much they liked it was a confirmation of the choice I made years ago to start producing music. I am having further confirmation with my latest release, "Muchacho," where I have positive feedback not only online, but also and above all, from the people of Castelfiorentino, the town where I live, and this gratifies me a lot.
What made you want to pursue a career as a DJ and producer? What was it like for you starting out, and how have you grown as an artist to where you are today?
It all started many years ago, back in 2012 when the music lifted my days up. My favorite artist at the time was Martin Garrix and when his single, "Animals" came out, I decided to invest by buying a small console and trying to replicate what he did at his festivals, only I did it from home. Later I was curious as to how a song could be created from scratch, so together with an old friend of mine I decided to download FL Studio and from that day until today I have never stopped producing, trying to bring out the best of myself without ever being satisfied, and it is to this that I owe my growth as an artist.
How would you describe your style and sound as a DJ and producer?
I don't think there is a suitable word to describe my style or the sound I use, because I like to change all the time, so currently I don't have one defined and I don't know if I will ever have one. This is a decision that has developed over time because one of the things I like to do when I produce is to always create new sounds. I don't like to follow or define myself in a single genre, but to experiment with the most varied sounds and styles.
Who are some artists that you drew inspiration from when you were starting your career?
It is a very difficult question because there are so many artists who have influenced me. Maybe if I had to identify one I would say Martin Garrix, but in general I have always listened to many artists. I have never listened to just one genre because I have always loved all music in general. I'm everyone's fan, and maybe that's one of the reasons I started making music.
Who are some artists that you're paying close attention to today?
I like to find and listen to artists who are not very well known or not known at all, who make music first of all for passion and who do not see it as a product to be promoted in order to gain visibility. So I like to listen to emerging artists, who have new ideas, from which I can draw inspiration.
Let's jump right into your brand new release, "Muchacho." Where did the idea for this one come from, and how did you build the track together with the vocal?
The idea was born after listening to the track MYLO - "Sufriendo," which is a very original track and I wanted to do something similar.
With "Muchacho" you've landed a release on 2Dutch. How does it feel getting to release on their label and what was it like working with their team?
It was really crazy and they made me feel important. I have worked with a few labels to date, but never one like 2Dutch. They are very professional, and they also gave me the chance to explain how I made "Muchacho" through a video that they posted on their Instagram channel. I hope to work with them again soon.
Do you have any other new tracks in the pipeline that you can tell us about?
Of course, I have some other tracks which are ready and I absolutely can't wait to release them with the right record labels.
And lastly, what has you most excited for the summer months ahead?
For this summer I'm planning evenings and scheduling new releases that will come out shortly, new collaborations with new artists.
