Not only are we celebrating a massive, 60+ track, ID loaded Exclusive Mix, as well as breaking the news on some big collaborations, but we’re here to raise awareness around autism. On Friday April 14th, Chris will participate in the “Walk For Autism” (info here) alongside many of his friends, as he has been very outspoken since the diagnosis of his son Kai. Read on to learn more and turn it LOUD to hear fresh tunes from the likes of heavyweights Carbin, Crankdat, Jayceeoh, Ookay, Ray Volpe alongside tracks from some of the hottest up & comers in dubstep!
Chris, thanks so much for joining us today with your LOADED Exclusive Mix! We’ll dive into that shortly, but for now, we’re here today to talk about next week’s “Walk For Autism.” Can you tell us some more about why the cause and event is so important to you?
Thanks for having me! My son Kai was actually recently diagnosed with autism, which is what spawned my involvement. This will be my first walk since getting the news, so it really means a lot to be a part of it. The most important thing to me is educating people because there are so many misconceptions. Hopefully my platform can help spread awareness. That's the goal at the end of the day.
For anyone unfamiliar, can you tell us some more about what the disability entails?
Autism can look so different for many families, but for ours, my son finds it difficult to communicate how he is feeling, what he wants, and so on... He interacts differently with things than other kids may do. But in all honesty, I don't see it as a disability for my son. It's almost as if he just thinks differently than others. He is unique.
What are some of the biggest lessons and skills you’ve learned as a parent of an autistic child?
I've learned to be more patient and more loving. I've learned to try and make my kids as comfortable as possible in situations where they may not feel comfortable. It has honestly made me such a better father.
For anyone who wants to learn more and get involved in any way do you have any resources or links to suggest?
Absolutely! There are so many out there and every state has a variety of programs. For me, it's the Autism Society of Texas: https://www.texasautismsociety.org

How do you find a balance between being a father and also a leading artist in the bass scene and touring DJ?
It's all about finding a balance that works for you and your family. We've come up with a routine that has worked well for us. It's still hard at times, but after doing it for years now, I think we've got it down.
When you were 16 you made the decision to drop out of school and pursue music full time. This is definitely a decision many other up and coming producers face and find difficult to make that leap. Do you have any advice you’d share to any others facing a similar decision?
My advice would be to stay in school and finish it out. Looking back, I should have as well, but I was just young and thought that's what I needed to do. At the same time, I won't sit here and say that I regret my decision, however, I am very fortunate that it worked out the way that it did. I would seriously encourage all kids to get that high school experience and really lean into it. There will never be anything like it for the rest of your life.
Looking closer at your Exclusive Mix, can you pick three artists included and why they stand out to you?
I'm a huge fan of Typhon right now and I play three or four of his songs in almost every set.
Nosphere is one of my favorite up and coming producers as well, so I had to include him.
And Kuhlosul is killing it too. We actually have a collaboration on the way.
I'm really loving what the up and coming producers are doing at the moment. Bass music is in good hands!

You’ve been playing some huge shows this year already, so what have been a few of the favorites and why?
That's a tough one. And this may sound a bit cheesy, but realistically I've loved them all. I'm just glad to be back on the road and playing shows again. Meeting fans and getting to hang with my favorite people. These things will never be taken for granted.
On your own release front, what music do you have upcoming?
I have my collab with Crankdat coming out this month, which I'm beyond excited for. I've been rinsing it out for a while now in my sets. I also have an EP coming soon, which is so different from anything I've released in the past. I also have a collab with Black Tiger Sex Machine coming as well. They actually just debuted this one at Ultra a few weeks back.
And looking ahead are there any other plans that you’d like to share?
Tons of festivals this summer, my fall tour is already coming together and I can't wait for that to kick off. No shortage of music. May even drop another house EP this year. I really want to start broadening the scope.
