20 Years Of Ultra
Ahead of next weekend’s landmark 20th anniversary of Ultra Music Festival, we’re excited to preview what you can expect from each day at Ultra. Let’s get right to it!
Ultra kicks off at 4pm on Friday with Korean star Raiden getting things going on the Mainstage. Massive names follow on the Mainstage including Kungs, Oliver Heldens, Steve Aoki, Armin van Buuren, Hardwell, DJ Snake & Axwell /\ Ingrosso. Can’t get much bigger than that, and the stage perfectly transitions from daytime house music into the harder spectrum of EDM.
Like the past few years, Ultra’s Resistance brand continues to reign king. Adam Beyer and the legendary Carl Cox headline the Megastructure on Friday. Meanwhile the Arcadia Spider features Pete Tong, Hot Since 82, Nic Fanciulli and Sasha & John Digweed. House and techno lovers will have some incredible options on Friday (and throughout the weekend).
Ultra’s Worldwide Stage brings lots of energy on Friday, with NGHTMRE & Slander on board for a 2 hour b2b set followed by Slushii, the fast rising Rezz, and Flosstradamus closing things down for the night. The Live Stage will surely be packed at 11pm though with Porter Robinson’s Virtual Self alias bringing a unique and hotly anticipated performance. Revealed takes over the UMF Radio Stage on Friday and will feature performances from label stars past and present, with Blasterjaxx closing down the stage Friday night.
Starting at 12pm, Saturday will bring 12 hours of the best dance music to Miami. Spinnin’ star Mike Williams makes his first Ultra Mainstage appearance, and Tiësto will be playing a special 1.5 hour sunset set followed by Afrojack, Marshmello, and The Chainsmokers headlining the night.
Resistance features a massive b2b2b in the Megastructure (a common theme for Resistance throughout the festival) as Dubfire, Nicole Moudaber, and Paco Osuna team up. They’ll be followed by Maceo Plex, Jamie Jones, and round 2 for Carl Cox in the Megastructure. Across the festival, there will be three b2b sets at the Arcadia Spider on Saturday as well as a special 1.5 hour live set from the incredible Stephan Bodzin followed by a live set from Maetrik to cap off the night.
The Worldwide Stage features both rising stars in today’s dance music landscape in Brohug and Lost Kings, as well as veterans like Benny Benassi, Cedric Gervais and Laidback Luke. Over on the Arrival Stage, Abel Ramos & Albert Neve team up for a 2 hour performance followed by Maxximize poster boys KEVU. Meanwhile the weekend’s first “Special Guest” will be on the Oasis stage at 10pm. The UMF Radio stage will be helmed by Brownies & Lemonade on Saturday, with performances from Manila Killa, Ekali, Valentino Khan, and a 2 hour set from “Brownies & Lemonade All Stars” which promises to be a special performance. Over on the Live Stage, Tchami & MALAA will cap off the night with their unique b2b live performance.
Sunday is quite possibly the most anticipated day in the history of Ultra Music Festival. The day is potentially Ultra’s biggest just in terms of announced names like Vini Vici, Armin van Buuren, Eric Prydz and more in the ASOT Arena (Megastructure) while KSHMR, Kaskade, David Guetta and more are over on the Mainstage, and so many more big names play sets across the festival. Notably, SIZE Records stars Still Young are quietly on the lineup for one of their first ever performances, over on the Oasis stage at 10pm.
Why is Sunday so anticipated? Two major reasons:
1. Mainstage unannounced headliner. Speculation has run rampant that this will be the return of Swedish House Mafia. Maybe, maybe not, but surely this will be a HUGE act to close down the 20th anniversary of Ultra.
2. ASOT unannounced headliner. There’s a similar level of anticipation for this one, with a myriad of names guessed for the headliner.
Sunday’s Resistance lineup on the Arcadia Spider also can’t be overlooked, as a b2b from Patrick Topping and Nathan Barato will be followed by a b2b2b from Better Lost Than Stupid (Martin Buttrich, Davide Squillace & Matthias Tanzmann). Somehow 4 people will fit into the Spider to close out the festival as Jackmaster, Eats Everything, Skream & Seth Troxler team up for a 4 hour b2b2b2b (!!!) set.
