Dansyn & Voltech Talk New Collab "Step To The Floor"
Last week Dansyn & Voltech dropped their debut collab “Step To The Floor” on 1001 Recordings. With early support from the likes of Cassian, John Summit, Nicky Romero, and R3HAB, it's a big bassline driven cut that’s meant to make maximum impact on the dancefloor. To celebrate, the guys joined us to discuss their new release.
What element(s) makes “Step To The Floor” special?
Dansyn: For me it’s the vocal and the groove. The “step to the floor” hook has this really commanding energy to it, and everything around it is built to feel super physical in a club. It’s got that dark, driving feel I love, but it’s still really simple and memorable.

Voltech: The magic is in how catchy it is — the vocal pulls you in, and the saw lead does the rest.
What makes it special to play “Step To The Floor” live?
Dansyn: It’s one of those records where you can feel the room react before the drop even fully hits. The vocal gives people something to latch onto, and then when the groove comes in it just works. I’ve been testing it in my sets for a while, so seeing people react to it before they even know what it is has been one of my favorite parts.

Voltech: “Step To The Floor” is special to play live because its a kind of wildcard that always works on the dancefloor.
Why did you decide to work with one another? And/or what makes you guys a good collaborative duo?
Dansyn: I think Voltech and I come at music from slightly different angles, which is what made the collaboration interesting. We both wanted something that felt tough and club ready, but still had its own identity. We were able to bounce ideas back and forth without overcomplicating it, and the record came together really naturally.

Voltech: I’ve been following Dansyn’s work since the DLMT days. I’ve always really liked his sound and wanted to do something with him, so it was great to finally work together on this track. We share a lot of common ground in how we approach dancefloor music and I think "Step To The Floor" really captures the fusion of our styles.
Anything else you’d like to share about the release?
Dansyn: This one has been living in my sets for a while now, so I’m just excited for people to finally have it. A lot of my favorite records are the ones that make sense immediately on a dance floor, and that was the goal with this one from the start.
