JYYE Celebrates 'In My Mind' With Breathtaking Live Set From Melbourne

Celebrating his latest release on Future House Music, JYYE brings us a breathtaking Spotlight Mix shot live from the Point Addis Cliffs near Melbourne in Australia. With a cinematic intro edit of “In My Mind” kicking off the video set, you’re sure to be glued to your screen for 60 minutes, soaking in the beauty of the national park and hearing loads of fresh tunes from the likes of Anyma, Camelphat, PAX, Tchami, Thomas Newson, Vintage Culture, and more!
John, thanks so much for joining us to celebrate “In My Mind”! How’s the response to the record been through your eyes?
Hey thanks so much for having me on! So “In My Mind” is more clubbier to what I usually put out, but the response has been great from the fans so far. The guys at Future House Music really pushed this one so it’s great to see the team putting the work in!
You took things a lot clubbier with this release compared to your previous productions. Tell us some more about that switch.
I’m always experimenting with new sounds in my studio. I’m liking a lot more darker, clubbier productions that are being put out by some great artists recently, so producing clubbier tracks on the side can really get the creative juices flowing in ways it doesn’t when making melodic house tracks.
Can you take us through the production moving from initial inspiration to final tweaks in the version we hear today?
The tune started when I found the vocal in a sample pack. I instantly heard the intro melody idea in my head and penciled it down. I didn’t want to keep that melody in the drop, so I created a hard hitting saw bass to add the ‘heavy’ element. I never really changed up the idea when I was making it, so what I’ve put out is the only version I made of the track.
For your Spotlight Mix, you chose to shoot a breathtaking set from the Melbourne coastline. How’d you pick the location and how did the vibe play into your track selection?
I’ve got to give a shout out to the team at Future House Music, as well as Adrian who shot the whole video for that one. They found a hidden cliff here in Melbourne overlooking the coast. It complimented really well with my mix, especially with all the drone shots Adrian captured.
Can you highlight three tracks or artists included and why they stand out?
“Feelings” by Ali Story and SUBB was a great addition to the mix. Really fresh idea, and I love listening to it even when I’m driving.
“Still Near” by Niko the Kid has a dope vibe too. A lot of tech house tunes are sounding the same, but that track is refreshing to the ear.

The Layton Giordani remix of “For a Feeling” by Camelphat is always a no-brainer for a mix. Great heavy club vibes with a progressive style vocal, goes well together in this remix.

“In My Mind” also marked a debut release for you on Future House Music. What made the label the right fit for the record and how have you enjoyed working together?
The guys over at Future House Music have supported my tunes in the past, and when I finished “In My Mind,” I knew it was definitely a track suited for them. They have been an amazing label to work with, setting up the mix on the cliff, pushing the track and the easiest to communicate with. Goats!
What role did the pandemic play in the development and exploration of JYYE and the sounds you stand for as an artist? Where can we expect to see your music head for the rest of 2022 and beyond?
I was working a full time job during the start of the pandemic, and once Melbourne announced a statewide lockdown, I put all my time into health and music. I loaded up on so many sample packs, VSTs and sample banks and started making almost every genre. This helped me develop new sounds I could incorporate into my music like fatter basses and richer leads. I focused a lot on my mixing so I upgraded my studio with panels for sound absorption. This helped get down my tracks faster, which was a great help to efficiently finish more music. At the moment, I’m making a lot of different stuff from melodic house, to more clubbier sounds so you can expect to hear a variety coming soon.

Who are two artists you’d like to collaborate with one day and why?
I’ve always said I’d love to work with the legendary Tiësto one day. He’s always supported my music through releases on his label as well as playing my music out. I believe we would make something really interesting and fresh for the listeners. Another artist has to be Vintage Culture. I’m really liking his unique sound and how diverse he is with styles, so I think we could make a sick track together!
Looking ahead, what’s keeping you excited and motivated on a daily basis? Any plans for the months ahead you’d like to share?
I would have to say building my folder of unreleased tracks with more and more tunes gets me hyped to release over and over again. I definitely cannot wait to put out the music I have been working on, so stay tuned!
