Heatbeat's Exclusive Mix
Heatbeat have been enjoying a monstrous year in 2017 releasing outstanding productions at a relentless rate. From big singles like “Total Ownage” and “Meteora” to their Alex M.O.R.P.H. collab “Shenlong” to their recently released remix of Ferry Corsten’s “Trust,” the Argentinian duo continue to bring out the best in trance, tech-trance, and psy-trance. Their domination doesn’t just end with productions, as their sets are a one-of-a-kind high energy onslaught and they’ve graced stages across the world this year. Packing this year up nicely for us the guys have delivered a fabulous Exclusive Mix & Story.
How did you approach your Exclusive Mix and how does the track selection compare to a current club set of yours?
Between this mix and a club mix there is NO difference. We included some of our next singles and brand new upcoming AERYS music. This mix IS our sound and signature.
Can you highlight three tracks included in your mix and why they stand out?
One is “Ecuador,” our next single which is out this week on AERYS Records. And another would be again an AERYS release, just out last week. It’s Indecent Noise’s single “Here We Go.” Also we have to highlight the Architect remix of Danilo Ercole – “Redemption,” the original was so cool but this guy took it to another level!
You’ve just released a massive remix of Ferry Corsten – “Trust.” What elements of the original did you want to preserve and how do you feel you’ve made the track your own?
For us, the original is the trance tune of 2017. We are so in love of the melody – it reminds us of a combination of Eric Prydz, Hans Zimmer and Ferry himself. He made an anthem. It was so hard to be happy with our remix since the original is so class, but in the end we are really happy with it. We tried to make a more punchy remix that kept the original’s feeling. From Heaven to Hell and then back to Heaven again.
It looks like you had a very special first play of the track live at Ultra. What was that experience like and how did you feel the crowd reacted?
It was super, the people really feel it and they love it. It seems that the melody has something so unique that it can captivate any crowd in the world.
We’re loving your collaboration “Shenlong” with Alex M.O.R.P.H.! What makes working with Alex special?
Alex is our favorite person of the business world. He is truly a great guy and good friend. And doing music with him... it’s just so fun – he is a king doing melodies. If you ever want to have a good time chatting with someone, go and find him!
Can you take us a bit deeper into the production process of “Shenlong”?
Alex came up with the melody, then we did a big upgrade and he did the final touches. You can recognize it easily, there is a typical Heatbeat raw bassline, and the breakdown is so beautiful that it makes us smile every time we’ve played it.
“Total Ownage” is another track of yours that we’re really feeling. What are two key defining elements of that track for you guys?
We really wanted to do an old school phrase vocoder that reminded us of Paul Oakenfold 2000 trance style. Combine that with a pretty old school melody and then we add our ferocious style to the rest of the track. So it’s a combination of older elements with our brand new AERYS sound.
After such an incredible run of productions this year, what’s next for Heatbeat? How’s your fall/winter shaping up and what’s one goal of yours that you’d like to accomplish in 2018?
Well... surprise surprise, we are working on a project that starts with an A, and finishes with an M :) 12 new Heatbeat tracks are on the way!! We’re also working on a techno alias so a lot of stuff is coming for 2018. And we still have two tracks for the end of 2017 which we’ve included in the mix.
