Antoine Delvig's Exclusive Mix
There may not be a hotter producer in dance music at the moment than Antoine Delvig. The talented French producer has graced Axtone, Protocol, and Doorn with his outstanding productions over the past few months and his music featured prominently on the Ultra Mainstage this year with plays from the likes of David Guetta, Nicky Romero, and Axwell /\ Ingrosso. Sitting on a fat stack of IDs and with a bright future ahead, we were delighted to have Antoine join us with one of the biggest Exclusive Mixes of 2017!
How’d you approach your Exclusive Mix and how does the selection compare to your live sets at the moment?
I selected tracks I like at the moment, some of my mashups, and of course some IDs. Building a live set is really different than a guest mix, during which you have to play some reference titles for people and always take into consideration the crowd reaction. So, for this Exclusive Mix, I wanted to mix what I do live and what I did in my last Axtone Presents/Smorgasbord for example, playing some classic tunes which always give you goosebumps. Hope you’ll enjoy it!
Can you highlight three tracks included in the mix and why they stand out?
Just three tracks is a hard choice, but I would say “Lose Control” from Bhaskar – really love this powerful and groovy drop! Then, “All Good” from Swiss producers GODAMM, and I closed the set with one of the best French producers of the moment, KUNGS, with his new title “Be Right Here”! But there are lot of other tunes I love to play, from BROHUG, Magnificence, Will K and more!
2018 has been an incredibly strong year for you with releases on labels like Protocol, Axtone, and Doorn. How has the year been going from your point of view, and can you talk a little about your journey to arrive where we are today – releasing consistently on the top labels in dance music?
It all started in 2015 when I met my manager as before that I produced only for fun. He seemed to believe in me and even if it was just the beginning for him too, we started this journey together. Starting without any contacts wasn’t easy and we had to only rely on ourselves, so to this day we work hand-in-hand. I produce, he deals with the rest.
After some releases on Klosman’s imprint, Guru Recordings, I had the chance to attract the attention of Oliver Heldens and Spinnin’ by winning the remix contest of “Shades Of Grey,” it was a great spotlight!
2017 was like the warmup, we wanted to build something bigger with more music developing my own touch. Three big releases with “Blondies” on Revealed, “Disciples” on Axtone and “Hangover” on Musical Freedom.
I never thought that I could release so many tracks in only six months, and on prestigious labels like those, but we worked for that since the beginning and we are now excited about the second half of the year and the new releases!
Your Axtone releases “Jack That Body” and “Disciples” have been absolutely huge! Can you talk about those productions, working with the Axtone team, and what you think has made them such successful tracks?
Thanks for your kind words, glad you love them! I think that I am not mistaken in saying that signing on Axtone is the dream of lot of producers, so it is a huge honor for me to be a part of this family. The team knows exactly the direction that they want for Axtone and always trust in the music they release.
“Disciples” is a track I had in mind since ADE 2016, but even if I had the main drop riff relatively quickly, I really wanted to take my time to create something unique, without taking inspiration from other tracks.
When I listened to the first draft of “Jack That Body” that Felicity sent me, I had the feeling that Axwell may love it for Axtone. Working on it was really exciting and Axwell’s feedback helped us to improve it version after version, and I still remember the boss’s reaction on his Insta story!
“Gravity” was a great collaboration together with SOVTH. Can you talk about working with those guys and how that collaboration came together?
I discovered them with their big Axtone release “Step Inside” together with New_ID, and as our respective managers were already in contact, it was easy to be in touch to start something together. They had this powerful drop idea, to which I added my own style. We made the changes Nicky asked us to make for it to be more festival ready, just in time to premiere it on the Ultra mainstage!
After such great success together with Felicity previously, what can you tell us about the big new ID we’ve been hearing from you guys?!
After “Jack That Body,” Felicity and I wanted to work on something special, mixing our universes, bringing all of the vibes we love in electronic music, and that’s how “Storm” was born – I’ll let you guess why we chose the name – and it will be out soon on Steve Angello’s imprint, SIZE Records.
What does the rest of the summer hold in store for you release and touring wise?
For the moment, I have two releases for the two next months, “Storm” and a collab with Maximals, as well as some demos which are in the signing process so the year is not over! I’ve also been working on a special vocal track for a while now, but this one will remain in the studio until it is 100% perfect.
As I said, I really wanted to be focused on music this year, making a name for myself, having as many releases on the biggest labels as possible, and soon I will join the roster of an international booking agency, alongside lots of big names. A new exciting achievement in my career!
Thanks for your questions and see you in Miami next year!
